  • Sudan exported 22.5 tons of gold in 2011. In 2012, that figure nearly doubled, to 40 tons, catapulting the country into the ranks of the top 20 gold producers worldwide. It is on track to become Africa’s third-leading gold exporter this year, Mining.com reports.
  • Government estimates to produce around 50 tons of gold in 2013, which could make Sudan Africa's third-largest gold miner and push it into the top 15 producers globally.
  • Sudan currently produces 133,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd). The country’s production is stationed mainly in the Heglig area and its surroundings, as well as western Kordofan.
  • Despite losing 75% of its oil reserves to South Sudan, there are further investments taking place with the oil field in Block 6 coming into production by the end of 2014.

  • There are still many unexplored areas in the Sudan for gold and other minerals

There are huge quantities of petroleum reserve not yet extracted, so opportunities are available for investment in this field
